The highs and lows of football. Through thick and thin.

Those sporting cliches could not be epitomised any more viscerally than they have been tonight.

Coventry City are celebrating a second-tier title for the first time in 59 years and looking forward to the Premier League again following relegation from the top flight in 2001 and a journey that took them down to League Two and all the way back up again.

Leicester City are heading in the other direction.

The euphoria of the 2016 Premier League title and 2021 FA Cup success obliterated by the pain of back-to-back relegations for the first time in the club's history.

It will be third tier football for only the second time ever for the Foxes.

We are fast heading towards the conclusion of this Championship season and will be back to do it again tomorrow night.

Thank you for joining us this evening, we are done on this live page now.

    Good night!

"Very apt for these boys to do it in that style at the CBS.

"I was very determined for the players to do it in the right way. When we attacked, we attacked with speed.

"It was fantastic - a perfect evening."

[Steve 21:59] you literally summed it up. What his dad did. Not top, not King Power, but Vichai. The problem came when Top and Rudkin budgeted for European football season after season and flashed extravagant wages to mediocre players. Top doesn't have the heart anymore for the club!

West Bromwich Albion boss James Morrison told BBC Radio WM following his side's comfortable victory over Watford:

"The players found a way to win. There were times when it felt a bit flat, but once we stuck to the game plan, we started to hurt them on the sides and I'm really pleased for the lads.

"The fans deserve it. We've had challenging times and we're getting the rewards for having that belief and togetherness. We have to finish the season as strongly as we've been doing.

"As professionals it's only right to keep playing for this football club and the fans would be disappointed if they didn't see the level of performance that we've been giving.

"Keep working hard, keep fighting, and then we can rest at the end of the season."

Hull City assistant coach Dean Holden speaks to Mike White after a 2-2 draw at Leicester.

Assistant Head Coach Dean Holden spoke to BBC Humberside about the side's "disappointing" point against Leicester City that leaves the club outside the top six on goal difference.

The Tigers took the lead in the 18th minute through Liam Millar.

"Disappointing thing for us is that we got ourselves into a leading position again. Four games out of five since the break and we've not been able to see it through.

"The message at half-time was to try and get on the front foot. We knew they were going to come us and take even more risk.

"We concede the penalty, I've genuinely not seen it back so I can't really comment, but I believe it's a disappointing one.

"We were giving everything as were they. I'm sure it was an entertaining game because it was end-to-end, it was like a game of basketball at times but that became dangerous for us because they've got such good players in those one-on-one duels.

"Ultimately we've got to take the point as disappointing as it is and move forwards as quick as we can."

    FT: Coventry 5-1 Portsmouth

The history books were rewritten in the EFL tonight.

Coventry City's 59-year wait for a second-tier title is the longest any side has had to wait to win the same division again since Bristol City's 60-year gap between winning the third-tier title in 1955 and 2015.

The Sky Blues wait is the longest between second-tier titles since West Brom's 97 years between 1911 and 2008.

A word too for Lincoln, who secured the League One title tonight and will return to the second tier next season 74 years after their last third-tier title.

Lions boss Alex Neil talks to BBC London's Andy Rowley after the Lions' win at Stoke

Following their win at Stoke which took Millwall into second, boss Alex Neil told BBC Radio London:

“I thought it was a great performance. I thought we set our stall out early in the first half, with a couple of the best chances. I thought we took the lead deservedly so, I thought it was a brilliant goal from Camiel Neghli.

“We should have scored the second, the cutback for Josh [Coburn] with Femi [Azeez] right behind him as well. We had one for Josh across the face, Femi had a couple on his left foot rolling in.

“When they get a goal back to 2-1, the reaction’s important at that point. If they go on and get on top, then it’s a nervous 20 minutes.

“I thought our reaction was brilliant, in terms of going and getting the next goal. And then I thought we've seen the game out quite comfortably.”

Bristol City boss Roy Hodgson speaking to media after the Robins ended Southampton's seven-game winning run with a 2-2 draw at St Mary's:

"I enjoyed watching it and I enjoyed our performance, the players should be very proud of their performance.

"We created more clear cut chances throughout the game and had a lot of the ball, I'm very happy with the point but on another day I think we could have had all three.

"For me it was the best performance of my short time at the club and I hope that the team have two more performances like that in them so we can get some results in the final games.

"Today was one of those games where you'd be hard pushed to criticise anybody."

    Media caption,

The Saints boss reflects on the 2-2 draw with Bristol City.

Southampton boss Tonda Eckert told BBC Radio Solent after his side made it 20 matches unbeaten with a draw at home with Bristol City:

"There's so many games in April and the expectations have been going up game after game and that's a credit to the players.

"There's no easy game in the Championship and credit to Bristol [City] for such a good game, they made it difficult for us today.

"We had chances to win it and we have taken those in previous games but we couldn't tonight so we take the point and move on.

"The goals that we have conceded have always been very different and today we didn't have the best of starts, sometimes you just need to accept that it is what it is, we still managed to find a way back into the game and that speaks of the players and the group."

Millwall have confirmed a play-off spot, at least, but there are four other places up for grabs.

Ipswich and Southampton are all-but nailed on given their impressive goal difference, and Middlesbrough have Sheffield Wednesday tomorrow which you would expect them to win to make a spot all-but certain, but who will claim that all-important final berth?

    Final two Championship fixtures:

    Wrexham: Coventry (A), Middlesbrough (H)

Hull City: Charlton (A), Norwich (H)

Derby: QPR (A), Sheff Utd (H)

Leicester City boss Gary Rowett says the club has to "learn the lessons" of its failures this season after suffering relegation to League One. He told Sky Sports:

"We have to learn. I think the club have to accept this is the horrible part of the journey of a football club.

"This club won the Premier League not too many moons ago. That was an incredible high at the time for the fans, for everyone associated with the club.

"I think everyone saw that as an amazing achievement. I think we can be equally as disappointed with how poor this moment is.

"Like I said before, the club has to rise again but it has to learn its lessons because it's certainly been a season of an awful lot of regret."

Leicester City boss Gary Rowett speaking to Sky Sports:

"Incredibly frustrating. If I look at the game first, rather than the period of time I've been here and maybe the season overall, the game was quite symptomatic in some ways.

"First half, we make a really poor mistake to give them a lift, give them a gift. We've done that too many times.

"Second half, we won the penalty and that gives us a lift. From then on, I thought we were absolutely excellent.

"If we'd have played with that urgency for the past five or six games, we would've got more points.

"But we certainly looked like a team at least that was going to give it some fight towards the end.

"The bigger picture is you don't get relegated over three or four games, you get relegated over a season."
