Mohamed Toure's 25-minute hat-trick helped complete the comeback for Norwich
Mohamed Toure scored a second-half hat-trick as Norwich ended Roy Hodgson's unbeaten start in charge of Bristol City.
The Robins took the lead with the first attack of the match, thanks to former Ipswich midfielder Sam Morsy, who fired past Vladan Kovacevic for his first goal since arriving at Ashton Gate in January.
But a remarkable turnaround by the Canaries saw Toure score three times in 25 minutes, before Jose Cordoba's header secured the three points.
Sam Bell pulled one back late-on for the home side after great work by Sinclair Armstrong, but by then it was only a consolation.
The win moves Norwich to within eight points of the play-off spots, with three games left of the season.
The two sides went into the match level on points and sitting firmly in mid-table, with very little left to play for this season.
But the Bristol City players did not seem to be thinking of the beach just yet as Morsy popped up inside two minutes to strike low past Kovacevic, finishing off a great move by Jason Knight on the left side.
Norwich head coach Phillipe Clement was serving a touchline ban, but after he managed to speak to the players at half-time, Toure clawed one back for the visitors when he poked home from close range after his initial header was saved by Radek Vitek.
He was on the scoresheet again shortly afterwards when he tapped the ball into an empty net after a slick break which saw Kellen Fisher present him with a chance he could not miss.
Toure's third was the result of a huge slice of good fortune for the striker as Paris Maghoma's shot from the edge of the box deflected off him, wrongfooting Vitek and completing the striker's second Norwich hat-trick.
The Canaries had not finished and Cordoba appeared at the far post to head downwards past the keeper, but the home side did have the final word in injury time through substitute Bell, who coolly finished past Kovacevic after the ball fell to him just outside the six-yard box.
Hodgson 'disappointed' after dream start
Bristol City manager Roy Hodgson told BBC Radio Bristol:
"I thought we were decent value in the first half, and then Norwich stepped up their game.
"We were a little bit unlucky with one or two of the goals they scored, but at 4-1 you're just hoping it's not going to be a further disaster.
"At the end of the day, it's disappointing because we we've had this dream after the three games.
"But today we came across a team who have been beating everybody, especially away from home, and so I have to accept it was our turn."

Norwich had 'all the correct behaviours' - Garry
Norwich City first-team coach Ryan Garry told BBC Radio Norfolk:
"We played a great game in the second-half with and without the ball.
"The manager's message at half-time was certainly around raising levels of intensity and you have to give credit to the players because everyone did that, and I saw all the correct behaviours.
"As much as it was a team performances, Mo (Toure) is obviously going to get the plaudits.
"He could have done more in the first half, and he showed another side of himself in the second, and so it's great when one of your players gets a hat-trick."
