Gateshead sign former Newport winger Spellman

Gateshead have signed winger Michael Spellman on a one-year deal with an option for a further 12 months.
The former Sunderland academy player and north-east native has spent the last two seasons with Newport County, making 72 appearances and scoring seven goals, but left the Welsh club when his contract expired in the summer.
However, he said he was delighted to be returning north and cannot wait to make an impact with the National League outfit.
Speaking to the club website,, external Spellman said: "First and foremost I want to bring goals, I want to bring assists and I want to get the fans off their seats."
