They've got through the session, Cameron Bancroft and Miles Hammond.

Gloucestershire were 7-2 in the seventh over and the writing appeared to be in rather large letters on the wall.

They still find themselves in a tough position but they have provided some resistance to this Durham seam attack with this stand of 43.

A small glimmer of hope provided by the way these two have started.

Sheridon Gumbs has to take evasive action to avoid a short ball from Ben Cliff which whistles through to Jonny Bairstow.

Gumbs gets off strike with a single before a lovely drive from Rishi Patel slows up in the outfield. The Foxes opener picks up three.

The glacial run rate ticks a fraction above two and that's lunch.

Job done for the Leicestershire openers who have added just 31 runs in the 70 minutes possible before the interval.

But crucially they remain unscathed as the visitors' seek to avoid defeat.

Miles Hammond brings the deficit below 200 in the final over of the morning session, driving Kasey Aldridge to the cover fence - one of several eye-catching strokes the left-hander has played to reach 26.

Cameron Bancroft is alongside Hammond on 17, although the visitors are facing a huge task after Durham extended their first innings total to 384 earlier in the session.

If Gloucestershire are to have any hope of salvaging this game, you'd think they'll need Cameron Bancroft, Miles Hammond - or both - to go big.

Bancroft is beginning to find his feet now as he leg-glances Kasey Aldridge for four and follows that up with a sweetly-struck drive to the cover fence.

The captain is on 17 now, not far from catching up Hammond on 21.

Ben Cliff is posing a few questions here but overpitches a touch and Rishi Patel picks up a couple from the drive to move into the 20s.

A good diving stop from Sam Whiteman in the ring then prevents a rare boundary and keeps Patel to a single.

Lovely delivery as George Hill gets some shape away from Rishi Patel and beats the edge.

Tight stuff once more - just a single from it as Patel goes to 19.

The sun might be having a day off here in Scarborough but there's still a fair smattering of T-shirts and shorts among the spectators.

Because of the time lost earlier in the match, lunch today is scheduled for 13:10 BST and Durham would love to prise out another Gloucestershire wicket before then.

Ben Stokes is testing Miles Hammond with a couple of shorts balls and then tempts the batter into a stray drive, but he fails to connect and it's a maiden.

It's not exactly crackerjack stuff here at Scarborough as the Leicestershire openers look to see off any potential calamity and preserve their wickets.

Sheridon Gumbs plays that one nicely as Ben Cliff continues, guiding it low past the slips to the pavilion boundary for four.

The Foxes are doing a fine job so far in nullifying the new ball threat.

Miles Hammond certainly isn't fazed by facing Ben Stokes, taking two fours from the former England captain's first three deliveries.

The left-hander drives Stokes through the covers, then takes advantage of a short one and pulls it to the fence as he advances to 20 not out. Gloucestershire are still a long way behind, however.

All change at Scarborough as Ben Cliff comes on for Ben Coad after his swashbuckling turn with the bat on day two.

Rishi Patel collects a single before Sheridon Gumbs continues to find life a little tricky out there.

The Foxes opener is beaten outside of stump by Cliff who then lets loose a loud appeal after finding Gumbs' front pad. Optimistic shout and not out.

First bowling change in this second innings, with Kasey Aldridge replacing Brydon Carse and starting very impressively.

The seamer beats the bat twice, then spears in a yorker that Cameron Bancroft does well to dig out.

Maiden to begin Aldridge's stint - and Ben Stokes is now coming on to bowl at the other end.

Yorkshire skipper Jonny Bairstow decides it's time for a change as all-rounder George Hill replaces Jack White.

Rishi Patel takes a hand off his bat as Hill gets one to lift alarmingly, but the Foxes opener guides it safely to square leg for a single.

You'd hardly say Gloucestershire are motoring, but they're scoring a bit more freely now as Miles Hammond guides Matthew Potts to the third man boundary.

The next delivery is a grubber that evades both wicketkeeper and slips and rolls to the rope for four more, but Potts reminds Hammond just which team is dominating this game, fizzing one just past his outside edge later in the over.

A clip off the pads brings four more for Rishi Patel off Jack White to go 16.

Ben Coad follows with a fourth maiden without threatening Foxes opener Sheridon Gumbs' wicket.

A productive over for Miles Hammond, who takes five in all against Matthew Potts - including a scampered single to Ben Stokes at mid-off.

Hammond will keep the strike against Brydon Carse as he and Cameron Bancroft do their best to repair the early damage.

The outfield has understandably slowed considerably after all of the rain.
