A lazy shot from Jos Buttler. He just wanted to guide it towards backward point but only gets the faintest of edges.

This is what India needed. A wicket early, breaking the opening partnership. That keeps India interested.

Has he got a feather on that? He has! After being hit for six, Arshdeep Singh gets his revenge on Jos Buttler.

And now the Arshdeep record takes a hit!

Jos Buttler offers a nothing-y shot outside his off-stump and feathers an edge to wicketkeeper Ishan Kishan.

    Here comes Harry Brook.

To defend 159, you've got to look at it from a wickets point of view. You can't restrict England otherwise.

Don't bother running for that! It's almost into our commentary box. Classic Jos Buttler, standing still and a full flow of the arms.

Jos Buttler does his best to improve that record against Ashdeep Singh, clouting the India seamer down the ground for six, his bat coming through in a great sweeping arc.

Jos Buttler has a brilliant head-to-head record against Arshdeep Singh in T20 cricket:

    • 114 runs
    • 73 balls
    • Two wickets
    • Average 57
    • Strike-rate 156

Wheras Phil Salt has struggled against the left-arm quick: five wickets for just 68 runs scored (avg 14).

Prasidh Krishna does bowl a heavy ball. In the past, he would bowl two good balls, two average balls, and two boundaries, so he would leak runs.

Now he's learned to bowl fuller without compromising on pace.

Runs off the bat finally come off the eighth ball of the innings as a Jos Buttler clip to short mid-wicket nutmegs Washington Sundar.

Two singles and a leg-bye the only runs from the over as Prasidh Krishna keeps it tight early on.

Shreyas Iyer isn't on the pitch. Tilak Varma is leading the team right now.

Big lbw shout. It hit Salt above the pads, on the thigh guard.

Arshdeep has a word with his skipper but in the end they decide not to.

Good over from Arshdeep, just the one loose delivery for four leg-byes.

    Target 159

Arshdeep Singh swings his third ball down the leg side, past sprawling wicketkeeper Ishan Kishan.

The ball races away to the boundary lodges between two boundary sponges - that's the only runs of the over as Phil Salt can't get India's opening bowler away.

Indeed, the opener is struck on the thigh pad from the final delivery of the over - an appeal from the bowler and India seem to half consider a review, before wisely choosing not to.

India are at least 20-25 runs short. They need early wickets, quick wickets. Something like the start they got in Manchester [in the second T20I] would be ideal.

As an India fan this is an incredibly tough watch. I was in favour of removing SKY as captain (due to his age and declining form), but dropping Samson for no reason makes no sense. This is a team devoid of any confidence. I miss Bumrah.

This is the first instance where seven of the top eight batters in a T20I have been left-handers.

Shreyas Iyer finishes with 80 from 49 balls, scoring just over half of his side's runs.

He'll face an uphill battle if he's to stop his side sliding to a fifth consecutive defeat in completed matches - England will be favourites chasing 159.

We'll need the technology to sort that out.

You see a lot of bowlers attempting that. Not many pull it off.

India have not made the most of their 20 overs.

  19. wicket

Axar run out (Archer) 1 (Ind 158-7)

Jude Bellingham eat your heart out!

New batter Axar Patel's first ball is a dot, before a single to cover gets him down the end.

Shreyas Iyer, on 80, faces the over's final delivery and is struck by Jofra Archer's final delivery.

The India captain sets off for a bye single, and Archer races down the pitch alongside Axar and side-foots the ball onto the stumps.

Replays confirm the wicket - India finish on 158-7.
