Australia have history of success in a fourth-innings chase at this ground but this gives you an idea of the sort of score that could be useful.

150-200 will always like a game is on, but it's a pitch and score where Head will just come out and smash 100 off 60 balls and it will be game over, he loves these types of pitches and games.

Labuschagne appeals again, walking towards towards bowler and umpire as he does, but Nathan Lyon knows there's a tiny inside edge on this one. It saves Ryan Rickelton.

Rickelton, who began the series as opener before dropping down after struggling in the first Test, has batted with real responsibility.

Marnus Labuschagne, yet again, has a lot to say at slip throughout Renshaw's over. He ooos and ahhhs, chirps and chats as the off-spin floats down. There are only four overs to go until the new ball.

The players are back out in the middle. Matt Renshaw is going to bowl his part-time spin.

South Africa are not giving up the fight.

Having started the day with a lead of 40, they have extended that to 102 at lunch for the loss of only one more wicket in the morning session.

That wicket was Matthew Breetzke, who, having battled for 121 balls, become another South African to fall pulling in this Test. He top edged to fine leg off Pat Cummins.

But other than that it has been tough going for Australia.

South Africa are 202-5 with Rickelton unbeaten on 39 and Wiaan Mulder five. The afternoon session will resume around 11:15 GMT.

    Rickelton 39, Mulder 5 | Lead by 102

Time for one last 'friendly' exchange - this time between Mitchell Starc and Wiaan Mulder - before lunch.

Another very interesting session despite only 62 runs being scored and just the one wicket falling.

This deciding third Test could still go either way.

  9. SA 201-5published at 74.3 overs

Mitchell Starc is going to be ticking here.

Twice in a row he comes charging in, only for Wiaan Mulder to pull away at the last moment.

In the batter's defence, the second time a towel fell out of Starc's pocket as he ran in so I think he's within his rights to back away.

No wicket but a very good over from Matt Renshaw with his part-time off-spin.

Six overs until the second new ball is available and there will be time for one more before lunch.

The Cape Town crowd are gleeful again.

Despite the woody sound, the first replay appears to show a gap between bat and ball... and UltraEdge confirms it.

Marnus Labuschagne, who had been celebrating... well, like Marnus, is suddenly looking a little less cheerful.

Big moment. Matt Renshaw is into the attack and Australia are convinced that he's got Ryan Rickelton caught at slip.

They appeal with real enthusiasm and quickly review when it's not given.

    Let's have a look...

If Jansen comes in and scores a quickfire 50 like he has done multiple times this series, and can take the lead past 200, it would swing the game in South Africa's favour I think. Fingers crossed.

Mitchell Starc is back for his second spell of the morning and quickly draws a play and miss from Wiaan Mulder.

Angled across the right hander and it's a loose drive at any stage of the game, but especially with the game so delicately poised and only 10 minutes until lunch.

  15. SA 200-5published at 72 overs

    Lead by 100

More cheers and applause around Newlands as Ryan Rickelton pushes a single to long off to bring up South Africa's 200 and take the lead to 100.

It makes things so much simpler when the deficit is a nice round number...

Right out of the middle of the bat.

Full and angled in at the pads from round the wicket by Pat Cummins but Ryan Rickelton brings his bat down to meet it at the perfect moment.

It's past mid-on and at the rope in a flash.

A single takes the lead to 99 before Wiaan Mulder is rapped on the gloves by a well-directed bouncer.

  18. SA 194-5published at 70 overs

Very good over from Nathan Lyon, who has bowled unchanged all morning, with new batter Wiaan Mulder really being tested.

Sharp turn first ball so nearly sees the right-hander bowled and he then comes close to chipping to mid-wicket.

Facing Lyon in these conditions is going to be a big challenge for any new batter.

Perhaps the biggest cheer of the day so far comes after a misfield from Cam Green.

A nice punch through the off side from Ryan Rickelton beats the in-field but isn't out of the middle and should be reeled in by Green.

Instead, the big all-rounder misses the ball as he tries to flick it back and ends up in a heap on the ground as the ball trickles into the boundary cushion.

We've all been there but most of us haven't had a gleeful South African crowd there to celebrate our mistake!

Ryan Rickelton reaches 1,000 Test runs with a lovely shot down the ground for four.

Too full from Nathan Lyon, who had switched back to round the wicket for the last ball of the over, and a flick of the wrists is all it takes from Rickelton to send the ball between bowler and mid-on.
