Hope Smith's finger injury isn't too serious and keeps him out of keeping for more than the rest of this test. Statistically England's best ever keeper when looking at percentage of dropped catches. Nobody else really knocking on the door to replace him except maybe Foakes, so we need Smith.

Edgbaston is quiet - quiet enough that you can hear the limited chatter from the Pakistan fielders as Muhammad Abbas hurries in.
The stands are by no means full again. A bunch of bananas have space to stretch out in the Hollies.

He is expected to bat in his usual position but there is no word on whether he will be able to keep in the second innings.

Pakistan's slingy quick starts with a beauty. Dan Lawrence tries to pretend he's left the first delivery but was definitely beaten.
Lawrence gets his own back later in the over by clipping off the hip for the first runs and boundary of the day.

Razaullah blasted his way through and made the headlines for all the right reasons. The pace, the accuracy and that slinging arm action will serve him very well with the old ball.
Also, his attitude, he wanted it. A tremendous Test debut for him.
Razaullah removes Root to get first Test wicket
Pakistan's highlight on day one was the performance of 21-year-old fast bowler Razaullah. On debut, he brought some much needed threat and excitement, dismissing Joe Root in his first over in Test cricket.
He will surely be on from the start this morning along with Muhammad Abbas.
Best shots: Gay hits 60 to guide England out of early trouble
One of the stories of yesterday was Emilio Gay.
With pressure on his place, he dug in again for 60 - his third fifty of his Test career.
He is only averaging 26.1 this summer but one of his predecessors as England's opener Sir Alastair Cook believes he has done enough to start the winter tour in South Africa.
Emilio Gay's played really nicely. I would say he's confident and intense," Cook told Test Match Special.
"He is definitely a run-getter when he gets in. He seems to have that real stubborn and strong will to make it count if he can.
"He has done enough for me to take him to South Africa to continue the progress of a player where the pitches will be slightly easier to bat on and he should open the batting."

England have been too powerful for this Pakistan batting line-up. But the one thing they haven't done is get a hundred yet. I'm looking at Harry Brook. As good as the bowling has been, the batting hasn't been that good.
It's a chance to get a decent score and they should get a lead of 200/250. As much as they're winning here, they know there are facets of the team that will get challenged down the line.
