Defending champions Notts are top of Division One but it's still extremely tight after just a few games.

Hope you can join us then, cheers!

Well done Bess and Root! If Lyth and Bairstow start firing it could turn into a half decent season.

The umpires have decided to knock this one on the head with the match seemingly going nowhere and the elements not helping either.

The players came out after tea and we had one over of Ben McKinney spin before the umpires took them off again for bad light. Heavy rain has been forecast this afternoon but at the moment it's just gloomy.

Durham remain unbeaten and take 14 points from the game. They now go top of the table and have opened up a six-point gap over Northants.

YORKSHIRE BEAT SOMERSETpublished at 16:23 BST
    Breaking

    Yorkshire (162 & 371) beat Somerset (274 & 184) by 75 runs

And Dom Bess bowls Alfie Ogborne! Victory for Yorkshire!

A beauty from Bess, again, through the gate of the number 11.

Yorkshire were bowled out for 162 on the first day but limited the first-innings damage, before some really useful lower-order runs yesterday put the pressure on Somerset.

Early wickets today set the tone and despite Josh Thomas, Tom Abell and Thomas Rew's efforts, the rest of the batting proved too brittle.

Thomas's 193 runs in the match have come in a losing cause, which seems unfair, but Bess and Joe Root bowled beautifully in tandem for four wickets apiece.

Somerset 184-9 (need another 76 runs to beat Yorks)

Lewis Gregory has been farming the strike off Joe Root but takes a single from the first ball of Dom Bess's next over.

  6. Postpublished at 16:21 BST

Somerset 183-9 (need another 77 runs to beat Yorks)

Soft hands from Lewis Gregory off Joe Root, playing the ball down behind square for a couple.

He then tries a massive hit but mistimes it and there's no run.

After sensibly defending, Gregory picks up a single into the deep.

  7. 'Defeat would be a hard blow for Somersetpublished at 16:21 BST

    Somerset 182-9 (Target 260) v Yorkshire

    Anthony Gibson
    BBC Radio Somerset

If this is indeed to be defeat, it will bring Somerset back down to earth with a bit of a bump after winning two of their first three games in this season's County Championship.

Everyone has been asking 'could this be the year at last?' They were in a very strong position in their first innings. It's all rather turned to dust and ashes.

Most of the crowd have stayed put, but this is a hard blow to Somerset's hopes this season. If they could have turned this into a win, and they had every opportunity of so doing - they would be very strongly placed.

Bad light has scuppered any grand finale as handshakes are exchanged under darkening skies at Lord's.

A partnership of 82 between Max Holden and Ben Geddes which was split just before tea proved the sticking point for Durham.

The visitors would have fancied their chance at 53-3 but that partnership sustained the hosts until the light worsened.

Positives all round with Sam Robson (87) Ryan Higgins (131) in the first innings for the hosts and Emilio Gay (129) further advertising his England prospects with David Bedingham (147) adding to the cause.

With the ball Ben Raine deserves special mention for Durham with 5-58 in Middx's first innings and 3-23 in the second – his 8-81 just off his first class match best of 9-96.

A 'winning' draw for Durham who take 14 points back up the motorway with Middx taking 11 points.

Somerset 180-9 (need another 80 runs to beat Yorks)

Alfie Ogborne drives Dom Bess but can't get it to the boundary so only one is taken, with Lewis Gregory wanting to farm the strike.

Gregory sweeps well but finds a fielder in the deep so takes a single.

Ogborne, with four men around him still, survives the final two deliveries of the over.

Apparently, there's rain in the area...

  10. Postpublished at 16:15 BST

Somerset 178-9 (need another 82 runs to win)

Joe Root is causing real problems here.

First an appeal for a catch at short leg is turned down because it came off Lewis Gregory's cable-knit sweather.

Then Gregory swipes at one, gets an under edge and it beats Jonny Bairstow and goes for four byes.

"Come on, Rooter!" is the familiar cry from the Yorkshire stumper.

  11. Postpublished at 16:13 BST

Somerset 174-9 (need another 86 runs to win)

Dom Bess concedes a single to Lewis Gregory, before Alfie Ogborne is comfortable with the remaining four in the over.

Goodness me Somerset, all that hard work over the last three weeks, and you've thrown it away in two extremely sloppy sessions. Don't see how they'll come back from this mentally, that's such an absolute demolition job by Yorkshire in the final day.

Somerset 173-9 (need another 87 runs to win)

There are four players round number 11 Alfie Ogborne as he faces the hat-trick ball...he drives it against silly point and survives.

He is then nearly bowled by one that beats his inside edge.

Will Smeed wanted to force a delivery away into the off side but it bounced and turned into him, and he could edge to George Hill at slip.

  17. SURREY BEAT SUSSEXpublished at 16:02 BST

    Surrey (622 & 14-2) beat Sussex (358-9 dec & 277) by eight wickets

Ollie Pope seals the deal! He whips a wide one from James Coles down to the third man boundary and Surrey have their first Championship victory of the season.

For Sussex, it's their first defeat of the campaign but they can be heartened by the way they took it to the final session, especially after being 92-7 on the first day and beginning today 76-4 and trailing by 188 runs.

  18. Final session starts at Tauntonpublished at 16:01 BST

Somerset 167-7 (need 93 more runs to beat Yorkshire)

We're back under way after tea. This one could yet go either way.

  19. Postpublished at 16:00 BST

Surrey 10-2 (need 4 more runs to beat Sussex)

Two more for Dom Sibley - what a match he's had - gets Surrey closer.

  20. Postpublished at 15:56 BST

Surrey 8-2 (need another 6 runs to beat Sussex)

After the drama of that James Coles over, Dom Sibley gets off the mark against Tom Haines with a single and then Ollie Pope does likewise with a healthy shot for two.

Pope then cuts off the back foot for a boundary.

    Six to win.
