Have your say on England men this summer

Mohammad Ali replaces Muhammad Abbas (who might be about to replace Khurram Shahzad at the other end after that 17-run over?).

    Two from it.

Lovely stuff from Jordan Cox. An expensive over from Khurram Shahzad.

  4. Eng 137-2published at 30 overs

Khurram Shahzad has given Joe Root a couple of scares this afternoon but no such luck against Jordan Cox.

Four boundaries in the over - three perfectly timed and punishing wayward line and length, the other a less-convincing edge.

There's also another no ball in the mix. 17 from it, Cox joins Root in the 40s.

  5. Eng 120-2published at 29 overs

The TV cameras have just picked out a chap fighting a losing battle with a transparent rain poncho. Don't panic, I think it's a failed extraction rather than a sign of drizzle in the air...

Wasn't there a Doctor Who episode involving living plastic? (Not sure CricViz will be able to assist here).

Jordan Cox adds a single to England's tally.

Beaten again! Khurram Shahzad is getting a nice bit of nip and targeting Joe Root's outside edge.

A no ball for overstepping is a small blot on an otherwise tight over.

What an opportunity that Jordan Cox has this series.

It's a shame that Sam Curran is out though.

I'm absolutely traumatised seeing that DB5 cut in half. Worth only half the £500k now then!

Cutting a classic Aston up seems criminal! I hope he at least shed a tear when he starting cutting!

  10. Eng 117-2published at 27 overs

Joe Root's boundary is the only scoring shot of the over, so we'll finally get to see Jordan Cox, on 23 (38), who's been waiting patiently for his turn at the non-striker's end.

After one ball of Joe Root advancing with Muhammad Rizwan stood back, Pakistan’s wicketkeeper is up to the stumps.

Too full, too straight, too easy for a man of Joe Root's class.

  13. Eng 117-2published at 26.1 overs

No trouble for Joe Root against Muhammad Abbas, however. Couple of steps down and wristily away to the boundary.

    Khurram Shahzad swing this innings:

    • Day 1: 2.1°
    • Day 2: 3.0°

Still plenty of movement on offer for the Pakistan swing bowler.

This crowd, perhaps because of the anticipation, already feels more lively than yesterday’s. An emphatic Joe Root block just got a big round of applause. Yorkshire.

  16. Eng 113-2published at 26 overs

Beaten! Khurram Shahzad opens with a beauty, swinging one past Joe Root's outside edge.

All in all, it's a little bit of a nervy start from the England skipper, who also finds himself on the receiving end of an optimistic lbw appeal before getting the scoreboard moving with a single off the final ball of the over.

Muhammad Abbas - who else? - returns after his 10-over spell on day one.

Righty-ho, Jordan Cox and Joe Root have jogged their way out to the middle.

England are 112-2 after 25 overs, trailing Pakistan by 59 runs. Root resumes on 37 (53), Cox has 23 (38).

Khurram Shahzad has the ball in hand.

My son cut an Aston Martin body in half. It’s stuck on the wall of the Spy Bar at the OWO Hotel in London. Residents only so just the £600 or so to see it! Anyone need the other half?

Wickets have tumbled and play is ongoing at four of the nine grounds. Only Old Trafford, hosting Lancashire vs Northamptonshire, is yet to see any action.
