  1. Root & Bairstow batting togetherpublished at 12:18 BST

    Yorkshire 264-3 v Sussex 502

A treat for supporters at Headingley with Joe Root and Jonny Bairstow batting together.

Not a bad combination for Yorkshire.

Bairstow straight into the action with a four.

  2. Postpublished at 12:17 BST

    Surrey 243-3 v Essex 409

Dom Sibley glides Sam Cook nicely off his pads to the leg-side boundary to move within four of his first hundred of the season.

But a welcome sight for Cook later in the over, with signs of movement as he gets a ball to fizz away from Sibley and leave the batter nonplussed while Michael Pepper dives to take it in front of slip.

  3. Division Two latestpublished at 12:12 BST

Kent are in all sorts of bother at New Road. Worcestershire have already picked up three second-innings wickets to leave them 38-3 and still 213 runs behind.

Lancashire have lost both openers, George Balderson and Keaton Jennings, cheaply in their second innings. The Red Rose county are 28-2 and lead Durham by 103 runs.

Derbyshire are 177-5 against Gloucestershire and facing a big first-innings deficit. They trail by 321.

    WICKETpublished at 12:10 BST

    Whiteman c Simpson b Crocombe 101 (Yorkshire 248-3 v Sussex 502)

Sussex were really struggling with the ball yesterday but they have returned this morning with renewed vigour and have two inside the opening 70 minutes.

Sam Whiteman follows Fin Bean in reaching 100 but not being able to add many more as he goes for 101.

He's beaten by the speed of Henry Crocombe and nicks behind as he tries to send it through the covers - and it's a great catch by wicketkeeper John Simpson who continues to have a fine match.

  5. 250 up for Leicestershirepublished at 12:08 BST

    Glamorgan 440 v Leicestershire 261-2

The Foxes pass 250 to snaffle a first batting point.

They started on 215-1 just over an hour ago and have lost Josh Davey to a stumping while adding almost 50 runs.

  6. 'Sibley and Lawrence look untroubled'published at 12:06 BST

    Surrey 238-3 v Essex 409

    Nick Gledhill
    BBC Essex

It's not been the start Essex would have wanted with the new ball.

Sibley and Lawrence have looked relatively untroubled so far.

It's not the game I'd want to be a bowler in at the moment.

  7. Root hits consecutive fourspublished at 12:03 BST

    Yorkshire 238-2 v Sussex 502

Joe Root sends Henry Crocombe for two boundaries in two balls.

The first with a daring pull shot which interests the Sussex fielders before running away safely and then a stroke whipped away off his pads to the rope.

He's getting into the groove now with 18 from 32.

  8. Postpublished at 12:02 BST

    Notts 8/0 (f/o), trail Warks by 172

Haseeb Hameed is struck on the pad by a full, straight delivery from Chris Woakes.

It was a keen appeal from bowler and keeper, however the umpire stands firm with a shake of the head.

There may have been bat involved, as the shout looked pretty good and in line. Perhaps a bit of good fortune for Hameed.

  9. Postpublished at 12:01 BST

    Surrey 238-3 v Essex 409

Essex have decided on another bowling change now, with Shane Snater handed an opportunity at the Pavilion End.

Snater picked up a wicket with his third ball yesterday when he got rid of Jamie Smith - and Essex badly need him to perform a similar feat right now as they try to break this partnership.

  10. 100 runs

100 for Sam Whitemanpublished at 11:57 BST

    Yorkshire 237-2 v Sussex 502

Sam Whiteman reaches his century in 188 balls with 11 fours and a six towards the end to get to 100 with a flourish.

He's the second centurion of the Yorkshire innings after Fin Bean's 105.

  11. Postpublished at 11:54 BST

    Notts 279 & 8-0 (f/o) v Warwickshire 459 (trail by 172)

Chris Woakes and Ethan Bamber have started nicely for the Bears, but Haseeb Hameed and Ben Slater have remained watchful.

Hameed edged a Woakes delivery, but he played it with soft hands and it landed short of Sam Hain at first slip.

  12. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 11:51 BST

    Davey st Cooke b Crane 15 (Glamorgan 440 v Leicestershire 242-2)

Stumpings have been something of a running theme in this match and we have another one now.

Josh Davey charges down the pitch to the spin of Mason Crane but completely misses the ball and he doesn't even need to look back to know that Chris Cooke has removed the bails.

Crane himself was stumped on 99 yesterday and Timm van der Gugten went the same way for 52.

  13. 100 runs

100 partnership for Sibley and Lawrencepublished at 11:49 BST

    Surrey 234-3 v Essex 409

A crunching cover drive by Dan Lawrence off Jamie Porter extends the partnership between this pair into three figures.

Surrey aren't too far away from entering batting bonus point territory now as they trail by just 175.

  14. Postpublished at 11:46 BST

    Surrey 230-3 v Essex 409

No joy so far with the new ball for Jamie Porter and Sam Cook, as Surrey continue to accumulate.

Cook had an optimistic lbw shout against Dom Sibley, shuffling across his stumps, but the umpire was unimpressed and to add insult to injury, the ball rolled to the rope for four leg-byes.

Sibley's advanced to 87, with Dan Lawrence on 57 at the other end.

  15. Hameed off the markpublished at 11:42 BST

    Notts 3-0, trail by 177

Haseeb Hameed opens the scoring for Notts after they have been forced to follow on.

Hameed, who was the second highest run scorer in the County Championship in last season's title-winning campaign for Notts, has had a difficult start to the 2026 season.

He will be desperate to put in a decent contribution for Notts following scoring only two runs in his previous three innings.

  16. Root batting as Yorkshire pass 200published at 11:40 BST

    Yorkshire 206-2 v Sussex 502

Fin Bean's dismissal early on today means we get a chance to see Joe Root in action.

He's made two from 15 so far as he feels his way into proceedings alongside Sam Whiteman who is on to 83.

    Yorkshire now trail by 295.

  17. get involved

    Get Involvedpublished at 11:40 BST

    Yorkshire 207-2 v Sussex 502

Despite struggling to take Yorkshire wickets yesterday, Sussex are looking a real threat to the usual title chasers. Every top/middle-order batter has made a telling score in the first three games, while the bowling and fielding has been consistently excellent. Title dark horses?

  18. 'Surrey not out the woods'published at 11:38 BST

    Surrey 226-3 v Essex 409

    Charlie Reynolds
    BBC Radio London

Surrey will be quite happy with how things are going.

They're not out the woods yet though, as they still trail by 183.

  19. Early breakthrough for Durhampublished at 11:38 BST

    Durham 295 v Lancashire 370 & 4-1

    Martin Emmerson
    BBC Radio Newcastle

18-year-old James Minto joined this game yesterday as a substitute for the injured Sam Conners. And this morning he's taken a wicket in his second over.

An away swinger tempted George Balderson but he ended up clipping it to the keeper on one. It was the early breakthrough Durham were looking for as Lancashire began their second innings with a 75-run lead.

Minto hasn't conceded a run off the bat in his first three overs, while at the other end Matty Potts has kept things tight and has only conceded three runs in four overs. It's real pressure cricket and a crucial point in the game.

It's a nice day in CLS. The sun is shining and we are set for highs of 17C, which will do me fine.

  20. Notts forced to follow onpublished at 11:35 BST

    Trail by 180

After Notts lost their last five wickets cheaply, Warwickshire have decided to enforce the follow on and make them bat again.

An aggressive move by the Bears, but maybe unsurprising with how their seam attack has been firing as of late.

Ben Slater and Haseeb Hameed return to the crease for the second time in this fixture.
