They’re scoring big runs, they’re doing it when it matters and restricting their opponents to very few runs. Coming in, no one was talking up Australia, now they’re looking like a team that can be champions.

  3. 'Perry led from the front'published at 18:03 BST

Australia captain Sophie Molineux: "I was chewing like a cow, Mum always says I chew like a cow.

"It was full of momentum both ways in the first innings. We knew that was going to happen, but it didn't stop me from chewing my gum like that.

"There was a lot of chat - the short boundary down the slope. I thought our bowlers bowled really well. Everyone chipped in at different times and we used our cricket smarts out there.

"Pez brought [the players] in and said '170 is very gettable'. Her actions speak louder than words and she led from the front with the bat - her and Ash [Gardner].

"Those two batted beautifully. The way they assessed, used their smarts and skill and then expressed themselves at the end."

This has been an excellent quality tournament, we’ve had so many games decided in the last over. I have enjoyed it so much.

  5. 'We need to rethink a lot of things'published at 17:59 BST

India captain Harmanpreet Kaur: "We got a decent total on the board, maybe a little short but I did the job for us in the final over.

"But against good teams like this you really have to play well and we've got to think about that.

"Australia bowled really well and stuck to their plans but looking at the whole tournament, we didn't play well enough.

"Best teams can bring the best out of you and Australia do that. It was a good game but we didn't cross the line tonight.

"We were in the game for a long time, but we didn't play to our standards. We need to rethink a lot of things."

India will look back at this campaign as a tournament of what-ifs, especially the way squandered that momentum they had for the best part of the game against South Africa.

That’s where they lost their semi-final spot, not today. It was their match to lose and lose they did.

As a result, South Africa have marched into the semi-finals.

  8. 'So much fun to bat with Ash'published at 17:50 BST

Player of the match Ellyse Perry: "It's been a wonderful day, and an incredible atmosphere. To have the opportunity to play here at Lord's against India, a team we have great battles against, I'm just so grateful for a special and fun day.

"We got to see India bat and how the pitch was playing, it looked good so we knew we needed a strong partnership in the middle.

"Ash was superb, the way she targets the first two balls of the over takes the pressure off you. It was so much fun to bat with her today.

"It's been a wonderful tournament, every venue and crowd, we've seen matches going down to the wire. Hopefully two more big games to go, but semis first and our prep has been awesome, it feels like we are in a good spot."

  9. 'Disappointment but not all despair for India'published at 17:48 BST

What a game we've had. The crowd has been brilliant, the atmosphere has been brilliant. Australia look in tip-top condition.

There's real disappointment for India. I feel sympathy for them because the expectation they come with is huge and the pressure is big.

They gave it a good go and they have a lot to be proud of. I understand there will be disappointment but it's not all despair.

That was a quite brilliant performance by Australia, especially that match-winning partnership between Ellyse Perry and Ash Gardner, who finishes unbeaten on 53.

    Sophie Molineux's side march on.

The Indian fielders are just standing on the ground, some of them looking at the floor, they look as though the reality of being knocked out before reaching the semi-finals is settling in.

You understand the heartbreak of letting down a nation who live, breathe and eat cricket.

The signs we're seeing from Australia are incredible. It's very difficult to see anyone beating them at this stage. There doesn't seem to be any weaknesses.

You seldom see that. That's extraordinary.

  18. Aus 160-3published at 17.2 overs

It's under a run a ball required for Australia now.

A paddle sweep brings an all-run four and India are on the brink of a World Cup exit.

The fielders clearly thought it would go to the fence before realising they would have to race after it.
