Leicestershire insist they are determined to hang on to highly-rated batsman James Taylor.
The 21-year-old, who has already starred for England Lions, external, has a year left on his contract, but Warwickshire have offered to buy out his deal.
Chief executive Mike Siddall told BBC Radio Leicester: "We would love to keep James and extend his contract. I'd like to think he is happy at Leicestershire.
"Warwickshire have been in contact but we are not interested."
Siddall added: "James has an absolutely fantastic talent.
"He has a maturity beyond his years and we are very pleased with the way he has developed.
"He has a range of shots around the wicket which are superb and the way he plays spin bowling and fast bowling with ease is fantastic."
