That was the Phillies first walk-off home run since June 2023 and that one was hit by...Kyle Schwarber.

His 39th and surely most valuable home run of the season and one very few Phillies who were lucky to see it will forget any time soon.

Kyle Schwarber - the leading home run hitter in all of Major League Baseball - tees off to centre field to secure the most outrageous walk-off win for the Phillies.

4-0 down with two outs on the board and this game was effectively over. 15 minutes later they have won it 6-4.

Ecstasy for the Phillies. Misery for the Cardinals. That's baseball.

Extraordinary! The Phillies have the fourth run and it's all square as Citizens Bank Park explodes in joy.

A single from Bryan De La Cruz gets through left field and Edmundo Sosa scores.

What a comeback from the Phillies to make it 4-4.

With two outs Edmundo Sosa smashes a ground-ball past third base.

Bryce Harper, JT Realmuto and Justin Crawford score to make it 4-3.

Sosa is on second base and the Phillies are one run away from levelling it!

Now then. The Phillies suddenly have the bases loaded. They couldn't could they?

We are into the bottom of the ninth now and that means the Phillies are down to their final three outs.

They need something special to keep this one alive as they still trail 4-0 to the Cardinals.

From two outs the Cardinals put together a string of hits to add another run in the seventh.

Singles from Ramon Urias and Pedro Pages get them in position to score before JJ Wetherholt line drives a single of his own to right field for Urias to score.

That makes it 4-0 to the Cardinals with two players still on base. The Phillies look to their bullpen for a pitching change to try and arrest the Cardinals' momentum.

We are certainly now into the business end of the season Peter.

If the Cardinals are to squeak into the play-offs they will need to keep the form they are showing today through September.

But it has been done before, and once you get there it is anyone's title to win.

The Cardinals are looking good now in Philadelphia as they take a 3-0 lead in the fifth inning.

Jose Fermin delivers their third run with a solo home run to centre field to add a little comfort to their lead.

The high fives and the big gold pendant that the Cardinals use to celebrate home runs are out for Fermin as he returns to to the dugout .

The Cardinals have a second run on the board at the top of the fourth inning and it comes from a familiar source.

Alec Burleson once again singles to right field Jordan Walker to score after stealing second base.

That makes it 2-0 to St. Louis as they look to avoid a clean sweep in Philadelphia.

Good to have you with us Martin. That is quite the resume for a long-term Phillies fan.

A strong start for the away team as Alec Burleson's single to centre field allows JJ Wetherholt to score from second base.

The Phillies get out of the inning without further damage but the Cardinals lead 1-0.

The Phillies eight wins in 10 games have put them in a strong position as they chase a post-season berth in the National League.

They have a four-game lead over the Arizona Diamondbacks in the Wild Card race and can still catch the Atlanta Braves at the top of their division.

The Cardinals meanwhile have work to do to snatch a post-season place as they sit four and a half games behind in the Wild Card standings.

The Phillies make three changes to last night's starting line-up.

Brandon Marsh returns at left field in place of Alec Bohm, Bryson Stott replaces Luis Arraez at second base and Justin Crawford steps up for Derek Hill.

Cristopher Sanchez is on the mound with 16 wins - the joint-most across Major League Baseball so far this season - and just 4 defeats.

There are two changes for the Cardinals as Alec Burleson comes in for Everson Pereira and Ramon Urias replaced Bryan Torres at second base.

It's Sunday evening and that means more live baseball on the BBC!

Bases Covered Live is in Philadelphia this weekend as the Phillies host the St Louis Cardinals at Citizens Bank Park.

The Phillies are aiming to make it three out of three after winning the first two games of this series in some style with a walk-off 7-6 win on Friday night and a 12-3 mauling of the Cardinals on Saturday.
