The relay teams are out and ready to go...

Jeremiah Azu, who sealed silver in the 100m earlier this week, will kick off the running for Great Britain and he gets a huge cheer as his name is read out.

The hosts are the favourites here, but they'll need to be wary of Germany.

It is fair to say from what we have seen in qualification and the way they have been running individually. I think we would be disappointed if they didn't come away with a gold medal.

Another medal chance has gone for Britain unfortunately.

We know Louie Hinchliffe is an incredibly fast athlete, so obviously when he's fit, healthy and able to go, then you're going to want him in and around that team.

Obviously, historically with the British relay we have had a few problems. Recently it has been fantastic. You're hoping that they speed them up a bit more, they are quite slick.

Jeremiah Azu and Zharnel Hughes, who sealed silver in the 200m last night, were part of the team that won European gold in 2022.

Hughes was also part of the gold-medal winning quartet in 2018 - the same year he won the men's 100m.

Another win tonight would move Hughes level with Mo Farah, Matthew Hudson-Smith and Roger Black on five gold European medals.

Finally, somebody woke up! I take it all back.

How has Julian Weber done that? He struggled to get over 80m then pops it 90m.

He is a brilliant athlete and he has thrown it ridiculously far today.

Medals are for keeps, records are to borrow.

Wow, what a finish in the men's javelin!

Germany’s Julian Weber, after a series of sub 80 metre efforts, has just unleashed a sensational throw of 90.40m with his final effort. That's a new European Championship record.

His team-mate Nick Thumm had appeared set for gold, but has to settle for silver and gives up with his final effort, lobbing a limp javelin like a white flag and slumping to the ground.

It was nice to see Great Britain. There were some great legs run and all the exchanges were safe. Sometimes we worry about the men's exchanges, but they were perfect, and they were nice and clean this morning.

Zharnel Hughes brings great experience to the team. He has been involved in so many relays in the past few years. What is great is they're all great individual runners.

They have run some great times collectively. To see those changeovers, they were stretched at some points, but it was pretty well-drilled. That is something they have been working on hard as a team.

After a British one-two in the men's 100m final earlier this week, home hopes will be high for tonight's 4x100m final.

Silver medallist Jeremiah Azu set GB on their way in qualifying this morning and Romell Glave, the newly crowned European champion, ran the anchor leg as GB finished first - 0.53 seconds before the Netherlands quartet crossed the line in second place.

Great Britain's Jake Wightman, speaking to BBC Sport: "I felt I was in a perfect spot with 150m to go.

"I couldn't push on in that last 100m. Frustrated. I gave it a go, but it wasn't there tonight. There were obviously people feeling better.

"Frustrated because it was a good opportunity in front of a home crowd. I thought I had enough time to get myself in better shape. Disappointing."

The men will go first at 21.33 BST, followed by the women at 21.48 BST to end the evening - with GB's Amy Hunt going for her third gold of the Championships.
