The Restaurant winners, Michele English and Russell Clement, opened their new restaurant in July 2009, with the backing of Raymond Blanc.
They renovated a 17th century pub in Marlow, Buckinghamshire and after 2 months of hard work they opened The Cheerful Soul which features a seasonal menu inspired by great British produce.
Michele and Russell's journey began as one of nine couples competing in the second series of The Restaurant. After various gruelling trials under Raymond's discerning eye, culminating in a very tense train journey catering for passengers on the Orient-Express, they finally triumphed and won the opportunity of a lifetime to open their very own restaurant.
Catch up with Russell and Michele, and with Raymond in this video interview. They recall the winning moment and reveal what support they've had from Raymond and his team in setting up their new business.
