Tanzania’s Maasai evictions continue

Tanzanian authorities say Maasai relocation from ancestral lands is necessary to protect wildlife.

The eviction of the Maasai people from ancestral lands in Tanzania continues despite condemnation but the Tanzanian government insists that the relocation is voluntary. The disputed areas will be protected for the conservation purposes.

The UK government says it is not deterred by the last-minute cancellation of the first asylum-seekers flight to Rwanda and insists deportations will go ahead.
