Timothy Redmond

Timothy Redmond is Professor of Conducting at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama, co-founder of the international conducting masterclasses And Other Duties and conductor and co-creator of the Royal Albert Hall’s My Great Orchestral Adventure concert series. He has appeared in the UK with all of the BBC orchestras, Royal Northern Sinfonia, Britten Sinfonia, City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, Hallé, London and Royal Liverpool Philharmonic orchestras, Philharmonia and Royal Scottish National Orchestra. Internationally he has conducted the St Louis Symphony, Tonkünstler Orchestra, Vojvodina Symphony Orchestra, Radio Romania National Orchestra, Oulu Sinfonia, Orchestra della Svizzera Italiana, Rotterdam Philharmonic and he appears regularly with the Fondazione Haydn of Bolzano and Trento.

In the opera house he has conducted Thomas Adès’s Powder Her Face for English National Opera, Irish National Opera the Royal Opera and Mariinsky Theatre; Peter Ash’s The Golden Ticket in St Louis and at the Wexford Festival; Richard Ayres’s The Cricket Recovers at the Bregenz Festival; Tobias Picker’s Thérèse Raquin at the Royal Opera House; and La bohème for Fondazione Haydn; and Madama Butterfly for Irish National Opera.

His recordings include orchestral works by Jonathan Dove and Beyond, a disc of music by Adès, Aucoin and Muhly. Timothy Redmond studied at the Royal Northern College of Music, Manchester University and the Accademia Musicale Chigiana in Siena.
