Are the bond markets going to make life in the UK painful?
UK government borrowing costs have been rising, to near thirty-year highs.
The Government will need to find the money to pay back its loans, plus interest, which may make it harder for ministers to do other things, like cushion the blow of the high cost of living. The new Prime Minister Andy Burnham has talked of trying to give people "breathing space".
In this week's Figuring It Out, Evan Davis and Sarah Montague discuss whether the government bond sell-off - happening around the world - will leave us feeling poorer.
