Kaleidoscope - Amis and Amis

Controversial writers Kingsley Amis, and son, Martin Amis, discuss their lives and relationship. With Paul Vaughan. From 1989.

A rare public appearance together from Britain's most famous and controversial writing family.

Kingsley Amis and Martin Amis meet Paul Vaughan to discuss their lives and their relationship.

It is a conversation that flows from the merits of literary prizes, to PG Wodehouse, to the Americanisation of English.

Kingsley Amis (1922-1995) is perhaps best known for his 1954 novel, Lucky Jim, and The Old Devils (1986). By 1989, Martin Amis (1949-2023) had written novels including The Rachel Papers (1973), Money (1984) and in September of 1989, London Fields had just been published.
