Style In Acting - Vanessa Redgrave

4 Extra delves deep in the BBC Archive for another classic interview.

Vanessa Redgrave talks to director Michael Elliott about the production of ‘As You Like It’ on which they worked together at Stratford-upon-Avon in 1961. Her portrayal of Rosalind helped to make her name when she was 24.

Vanessa talks about training for the stage and her approach to a new part – as well as making films and playing Isadora Duncan and Mary Queen of Scots.

She also explains the importance of actors not being isolated from the life around them, and of her own attitude to protest movements and Civil Disobedience.

Producer Charles Lefaux

First broadcast on BBC Radio 4 in June 1972.
