Ardingly 24
Experts Kate Bliss and Jonathan Pratt skipper two teams of eager antiques hunters at a huge fair in the south of England.
Charlie Ross remembers a remarkable group of Second World War airmen who suffered life-changing injuries but refused to let those injuries define them. In East Grinstead, Charlie learns about the Guinea Pig Club and the pioneering plastic surgeon who treated their physical and mental injuries.
Nearby, two teams of bargain hunters race around the stalls of Ardingly antiques fair looking for collectable items they can sell at auction. In red are married couple Phil and Chris, who are looking for militaria, treen and anything quirky. Their opponents in blue are friends Abi and Emily, who have shiny and sparkly on their shopping list.
With antiques expert Jonathan Pratt by their side, the reds weigh up a set of brass and wrought iron scales, which appeal to former blacksmith Phil. Across the fair, expert Kate Bliss shows the blues a 19th-century Tunbridge ware box, but it’s not an open and shut case for Abi.
For the sale, the teams travel to Buckinghamshire, where Hugo Lemon gives his auctioneer estimates on their purchases, and for one duo, their bonus buy is definitely worth writing home about.
