Di US House of Representatives don agree to one amendment bill wey go increase withholding of assistance to Nigeria from 50 percent to 100 percent until di West African nation take effective steps to prevent and respond to violence within dia territory.

Gregory Stuebe, wey dey represent Florida 17th congressional district for di House, bin propose di amendment on Wednesday.

"Di lawmaker wey share video of di plenary ontop im official X page say: My amendment to withhold 100% of U.S. aid to Nigeria until dia govment stop di slaughter of Christians don dey PASSED.

"American taxpayers no suppose bankroll govments wey dey turn blind eye while Christians dey dey abducted, tortured, and murdered.

"No more wasteful foreign aid!" e tok.

Di House bin first propose to halve funds appropriated for Nigeria for April until di secretary of state certify say di Nigerian govment bin take "effective steps to prevent and respond to violence and hold perpetrators accountable".

Steube say "withholding only 50 percent of di funds appeared to reward di Nigerian govment "despite failure to meet its fundamental obligation to protect citizens".

"I rise in strong support for my amendment to increase di withholding threshold for assistance to Nigeria, from 50 percent to 100 percent. While keeping in place benchmarks wey demand make Nigeria take effective steps to address di violence and persecution wey continue to devastate di kontri," Steube tok.

E add: "Nigeria don face horrific wave of violence wey dia corrupt govment don fail to address.

"For years, and especially in recent months, Christians and oda religious minorities for Nigeria don dey subjected to violence and terrorism for di hands of extremists wey dey operate wit impunity.

"Christian women and girls continue to dey abducted, assaulted, tortured, and killed. Dia churches dey burned, and entire communities dey erased."
