Nottingham's legendary eatery - The Cosy Teapot Cafe - has just won the title Britain's Greatest Greasy Spoon.

It was judged on its quality of food, friendliness of staff, ambience, local delicacies. It scored top marks in almost every field.

What the judges say:
Greasy Spoon Award
Britain's Greatest Greasy Spoon Awards 2003
"The plates are large, the same as the ceiling shelves that adorn hundreds of teapots from the entire globe."

"Tackling the stupendous doorstop toast is a task on par with scaling Everest."

"One can also order a bacon cob, and find themselves referred to as 'duck' by the elderly waitress for that at-home-with-Granny feeling."

"The food is sensibly priced, expertly cooked and served with a smile that warrants the accolade of Britain's Greatest Greasy Spoon."

So if you fancy a fry-up then you'll find the perfect sausage, eggs and bacon on Carrington Street - between the Broadmarsh Centre and the train station.
