Great Britain win European gold and silver in men's 100m final

Great Britain's Romell Glave has won gold in the men's 100m final at the European Athletics Championships in Birmingham.

He crossed the finish line in 10.09 seconds, to become the sixth British man in history to win the title.

Glave finished seven hundredths of a second faster than team mate, Jeremiah Azu, who took silver to complete a British one-two.

After the race, Glave said it was a "total domination" for Britain's runners in front of a home crowd, and he was delighted to take the European title.

Glave, who finished third in the same event at the last European Championships two year ago, clinched gold thanks to a dominant performance.

After the race, he explained that he was delighted with the result.

"Upgrading from a bronze medal from 2024 is an amazing feeling," he said.

"I was ready for this occasion. The last week or so has been up and down with my body, but I was able to come out here regardless of how I was feeling."

Jeremiah Azu, who finished just behind Glave to take silver, added that he was really happy to make the podium too.

Azu said: "When it comes to championships, I know I find my best.

"I want to put in my best performance in the final and I felt like I did that today."

Glave's victory came 24 hours after Amy Hunt won gold for Great Britain in the women's 100m final.
