People in the UK now consume around 75% less peas than they did 50 years ago.

Latest data from the Government's Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) show that the amount of peas people in the UK eat has fallen sharply over the past 50 years.

The average person in the UK ate just 37g of peas a week last year, compared with 144g in 1975.

Fewer people eating peas could be bad news for UK farmers who grow them and rely on selling them to make a living.
