Taylor Swift's Showgirl era continues with four new songs

Just when Swifties thought the show was over, Taylor has stepped back into the spotlight for an encore.

The Life of a Showgirl: The Encore has just been released, adding four brand-new songs to her hugely successful 2025 album.

An 'encore' is an extra performance at the end of a show, so it is a fitting name for a new edition that keeps the Showgirl era going.

The new tracks are called Patient Zero, Cleveland!, Pink Clouding and Babylon.

Taylor explained that the songs were not left over from the original album. She wrote them after travelling to Sweden to celebrate its success with producers Max Martin and Shellback.

"Really we ​just wanted to reflect and take in how grateful we were for the ‌moment ⁠we were in," Swift wrote on her Instagram.

"But there was a studio there and we did what we do when we feel anything at all: We wrote more songs."

A music video for Patient Zero will be shown at the MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday.

At the ceremony, Taylor Swift will become the first person to receive MTV's new Artist Director award, which celebrates musicians who help direct their own videos.

Taylor last gave fans new music during the summer with I Knew It, I Knew You, a song about friendship from Toy Story 5.

These are also her first new tracks since her July wedding to American football player Travis Kelce.

One of the new songs is called Cleveland!, which is the city in the American state of Ohio where Travis Kelce grew up.

The track appears to be a love song about enjoying someone else's favourite people, places and interests.

Taylor herself has not yet publicly explained exactly who or what inspired any of the new tracks, but it's safe to say this one is probably referencing her new husband.

The four new tracks have been released through streaming services and as part of a digital download of the expanded 16-song album.
