Thunderstorms and heavy rain forecast for parts of England and Wales

Yellow weather warnings for thunderstorms and heavy rain are in place across parts of England and Wales.

The alerts - which run from Wednesday until Thursday evening - cover eastern Wales, the Midlands, East Anglia and parts of northern and southern England.

Experts say the rain could be heavy enough to bring flash flooding and travel disruption, with lightning and hail also possible.

Some parts of the UK could see more rain in the next few days, than they have had for the past several weeks.

The Met Office - the UK's weather service - has issued two separate yellow warnings - one for Wednesday, and the second for Thursday.

The Wednesday warning covers much of the Midlands, East Anglia and parts of northern and southern England - as well as the far east of Wales.

Some areas could see 20-30mm of rain possible in just one hour, while other places could see 40-50mm of rain fall over a few hours.

The Met Office added that flash flooding is possible, particularly in places where the ground is very hard, after this summer's dry weather.

There could also be difficult travel conditions, with large hail and frequent lightning possible.

Thursday is expected to bring more thunderstorms, mainly across England and Wales, with another yellow weather warning in place from 6am until 10pm.
