People living in Leicester but born all over the African continent from North to South and East to West came together and gave up their time in order to make this ground breaking documentary

Dr Joseph Amoah tells his tales to local youngsters

The idea came from some research that BBC Radio Leicester did when setting up a new programme called Into Africa which is broadcast every Saturday night between 1800 - 2000.

Leicester is a city full of cultural diversity and during this research we were told that storytelling was a feature that many Africans living in the county would like to hear when they switched on their radios.

On investigating this we found there are an abundance of stories floating around in many African households. We plan to carry on featuring African stories on the Into Africa programme.

If you have an African story that means something to you and are prepared to tell it for the radio - then please contact us and we will do the rest!

We hope you enjoy Tales From My African Home, and would like to thank all the contributors that were involved in the making of this documentary including Brian Booi, Rita Kisob, Idel Dahir, Dr Joseph Amoah, Feisal and Elizabeth Josephs. We would also like to extend our thanks to Sarah Parker who was a fantastic trouble shooter!

We'd also like to thank Amanda, Pastor Jonas and all at the Living Gods Temple Church in Leicester and Lucy Collins. Tales From My African Home was produced by Helen Cockle for BBC Radio Leicester.
