We welcomed literally hundreds of regular listeners and newcomers alike to share the facilities here with us on our first day of opening. The opening day proved what we had known all along – our fantastic building would look even better when it was full of people to enjoy it! | | Waddo broadcasts live |
Everything was lively and bustling; team leader Adam reported a great day of trading in the shop. Our Sports presenter John Sinclair can confirm this. Having visited the shop to buy a DVD, he then stayed for an impromptu autograph session for the gathering shoppers! Our presenters waved at people through the glass as they grew accustomed to a new element of live radio – being watched as the shows go out. | | Surfing the net |
Special mention goes to Tony Wadsworth for his broadcasting from the Open Centre, and his ‘interesting’ moves in dancing across the reception area! Our learning centre was also full of activity with specialist advice on hand to show you how to use a variety of software. We were happy to help at least seven visitors try the internet for the very first time; they were determined to come back and learn more. Our tutor Sandra had no time to spare in offering guidance to the many visitors who wanted to know how digital technology was likely to impact on their lives, families and work. | | Learning about digital photography |
As part of the digital ‘Picture of Britain’ session which we also ran on our opening day, fifty people turned up with digital cameras and received one-to-one advice from our experts. After a really successful opening, we are now looking to future events here at the Open Centre. There’s still plenty of time to sign up for the future sessions in the coming weeks, so follow the example of our first visitors and come on down! |
