We have a team of guides chosen to help you to enjoy our surroundings. They are a sociable bunch and will be there to lend a hand to our Open Centre visitors wherever necessary. Their specialist knowledge will leave no question unanswered! HemaHema is a Media and Cultural Studies student at Nottingham Trent University and is working in the BBC Leicester Open Centre. She is enjoying being part of the media buzz. NicolaNicola's background is in the travel industry and has adventured to quite a few interesting places on the cruise ships. She is fluent in French and has travelled throughout France. Her favourite destinations are hot and sunny and she likes nothing better than relaxing by the sea! DimpleDimple is JigJig started at BBC Radio Leicester as a volunteer on the CSV Action Desk two years ago and has now joined the Open Centre team as a Guide. He has worked on various different programmes and would eventually like to be a Presenter. Jig is a huge sports fan and has played wheelchair basketball for premier league teams Nottingham Jaguars and MK Aces, which took him worldwide for tournaments, but being a Leicester lad he is now playing for his local team, Leicester Cobras. The furthest they have taken him so far is Mansfield! DaveBrought up in the South East, Dave came to Leicester some 25 years ago and liked the city and county so much that he ended up staying. Since joining the team in helping to answer the phones in 1993, he stayed put and has presented all programmes on Radio Leicester, save from the specialist output.  | | Open Centre guide Dimple |
His only final vestiges of any southern allegiance are a quick look at Kent's cricket score and West Ham United's results – but only after looking at those of Leicestershire CCC and Leicester City! RachelRachel is the Receptionist here at BBC Radio Leicester and first started in the days of Epic House. She says the biggest change here at St Nicholas Place is " the bright, open plan design of the building which attracts so many more people to come and visit us". BBC ShopCafeVisit our Cafe for a wonderful range of Fair Trade drinks and snacks and a great cup of Fair Trade tea or coffee. You can enjoy freshly made sandwiches, toasties and paninis as well as scrumptious homemade cakes, delicious handmade flapjacks and gourmet crisps. We have free internet access in the Cafe and wi-fi facilities in our soft seating area. Chris, one of the friendly faces in the Cafe says " the internet is so popular these days, its great to see people just relaxing with their drinks and surfing the net". There is also a patio area with lovely views of the Cathedral and the Guild Hall. |
