On Sunday, 11 December 2011, Professor Daithí Ó hÓgáin passed away at his family home in Wicklow. He was a Professor of Irish Folklore at University College Dublin.
He will always be remembered, not only for his extensive research on folklore, but also for his creative writing; three poetry collections and six short story collections amongst much more.
Professor Ó hÓgáin was originally from County Limerick, but had settled in Bray, County Wicklow.
In this video, the Professor is in his element as he talks about the Celtic festival, Imbolg.
