I served in the RAF for about 5 years from 1940 to 1945 starting with 'square-bashing' in BLACKPOOL as an AC2 and finishing as a F/Lt joining in VE DAY celebrations in LONDON, having, 2 days before, been posted to UXBRIDGE for an overseas posting which was cancelled on VE DAY in favour of a release to 'work of national importance'. I spent much of my service at 4[C]OTU RAF ALNESS [including several months at their detachment in STRANRAER which I helped to set up]. I may now be remembered by some 'oldies' as F/Lt Alexander McIntosh, for some months Adjutant of the Maintenance Wing at ALNESS under S/Lr Robbins or for the long time I was Station Adjutant at ALNESS under G/C Gordon. I have written a long story of 16,500 words broken up into many experiences. I shall soon be 91 years of age and for details of my family and early life see my website www.sandy90.com
