It's 13 years after the whole sphere-filled nightmare began but Mike and Reggie are back with the spirit of Mike's brother in tow to wreak revenge upon 'The Tall Man'. Thankfully this latest instalment (sometimes subtitled "Lord of the Dead") of the series makes for a better DVD than "Phantasm II".

The layout to the DVD is the same as the other two discs with a lamentably poor scene selection gallery and a rather naff photo gallery of screen grabs from the film. But the picture quality is a big improvement over the second film with an overall clearer image and stronger colours. Certainly all the yellow ooze, blood and spewing guts and exploding eyes retain enough detail to make you flinch.

The sound is also improved with a pleasing Pro Logic mix that's quite atmospheric at times.

This is the most limited disc in the set in terms of extras but a few deleted scenes roped together are rather fun if you like to see people explode.
