Gary Numan fans have his procrastination over writing a book to thank for his latest album, his first in nearly five years.

Savage: Songs From A Broken World is released on 15 September and is his 22nd full length LP.

The post-apocalyptic, post-global warming world was helped along by a Pledge Music campaign which let fans be part of the making of the album.

Gary told 6 Music that the idea for the record came from an unfinished book...

Lady G's Joanne world tour commenced in Canada last night and saw the star perform a career-spanning 22-song set at the Rogers Arena, in Vancouver.

We weren't there sadly as we have to be here in the UK delivering the best music news stories to you all (scroll down for more) but these fans above and below were and it looks like she smashed it.

She gave her usual nod to the LGBTQ community by raising the rainbow flag and if all of these pictures/videos from last night are correct then Gaga is carrying an extensive wardrobe around with her too.

Fans of Manchester indie rockers The Courteeners have been left reeling after a pre-sale of tickets for singer Liam Fray's new solo acoustic tour sold out in under a minute.

The singer is taking his acoustic guitar around the country, starting in Edinburgh on 19 October and culminating in two hometown gigs on November 3/4.

However at present it seems that most fans have missed out and will have to try again in the general sale on Friday.

The rather rapid nature of the sell-out has led several fans to jokingly question how small the venues are...

Okay, so please don't have a cow about this next post. It's a bit tongue-in-cheek admittedly but simply too funny to leave out.

Hill Country Visitor, external, in Texas has posted the below picture of new-born calf 'Genie' on Facebook and tagged Kiss rocker and lookalike Gene Simmons.

The post begs the question: "Gene Simmons, Where were you on our about November 25, 2016?"

Apparently Genie was bred on a healthy diet of Kiss music and is therefore described as a "WONDER OF NATURE".

Even the 67-year-old rocker himself has acknowledged the fact the young Texan cow bares more than just a slight resemblance...

Genie even knows where the camera is and how to strike the classic tongue-out kiss pose.

She may find Gene's non-trademarked devil horns rock hand signal a little trickier however...🤘

Blackpool-born singer songwriter Rae Morris was a guest on Jo Whiley's Radio 2 show on Tuesday night and pulled a rather miraculous Madonna cover out of the bag.

The singer, whose follow up to her debut album is due out later this year, announced a short five-date tour in Spetember.

She also told Jo about the time Lianne La Havas saved her skin at a festival and meeting the great Patti Smith (scroll down for more from Patti).

The story of Paul Oakenfold, one of the original British superstar DJs, is to be published as a graphic novel.

The Wonderful World of Perfecto is due out on 12 November and will see each graphic artist take on a different period of his life for what the publishers have described as a "not quite true story".

It will reflect his collaborations with the likes of Madonna and U2 as well as his two-year residency at Liverpool's Cream.

Oakey said he was "honoured and excited to be a part of the first electronic music graphic novel".

The 53-year-old DJ will also create a soundtrack for the project, which will only be available on purchase of novel.

Manchester indie band Everything Everything provided Annie Mac's Hottest Record last night with their new track Desire.

Jonathan and Alex from the band strode into the Radio 1 studios with "a new walk", as well as a hot new record. The two things go hand in hand.

It's the second single off their forthcoming album A Fever Dream and you can listen above,

A performance of Verdi’s Requiem at Opera Holland Park on Tuesday night raised around £40,000 for the victims' families and survivors of the Grenfell Tower fire tragedy.

OHP lost one of its members of staff in the fire in North Kensington, which killed at least 80 people.

Hundreds of tickets for the one-off London fundraiser event, which was described (below) as "incredibly-moving", sold out in 24 hours.

On yesterday's MNL we saw that it could be the end of the line for fellow US rappers A Tribe Called Quest.

After that news, you may want to be sat down for the next entry, hip hop fans.

Outkast's Andre 3000 has suggested that he is not remotely bothered about the possibility of his band never making another album again. Like, ever.

In an interview with Complex, external, the Hey Yah! singer questions where ageing rap/rock stars get their "inspiration" and generally seems to be planning for a life after music...professionally at least.

He added: "Do I really want to be 50-years-old up there doing that? When I watch other rappers that are my age I commend them, but I just wonder where the inspiration is coming from.

"At this stage I’m really more focused on what I am going to be doing 10 years from now. And I hope to God it won’t be rapping."

We're sorry dear readers... he is for real.

Maybe baking then Andre? Or perhaps a spot of gardening?

Atlantic records has confirmed that they have snapped up Aussie hit-maker Sia.

Smart move.

She's been welcomed to "the fam" and her first album of the new deal will be "a collection of original holiday songs" co-written with her pal Greg Kurstin, who has also worked with Adele and Liam Gallagher.

As well as being a superstar in her own right, Sia has also written for Beyoncé, Britney Spears, Katy Perry and Rihanna... so between them, she and Greg pretty much have the pop world carved up.

Atlantic bosses called her "a once-in-a-generation artist".

And if you think they're excited, it's nothing compared to this lot...

How best for a musician to address rumours of their demise than with a song assuring people that they are still very much alive.

Sheryl Crow was apparently so amused by a tweeter who has suggested that she would be "rolling in her grave" over rapper Kid Rock's decision to run for Senate in his home state of Michigan, that she decided to respond with a musical ditty.

Dude I'm Still Alive contains the lyrics:

"If Kid Rock runs for Senate / I wouldn't be surprised / But not over my dead body / Cause dude I'm still alive."

She also handily tweeted them below.

Mercury-nominated J Hus performed live for Annie Mac last night and told the Radio 1 DJ that he "can't wait" for next month's award.

If he doesn't win, he's throwing his weight behind fellow London grime star Stormzy.

He performed tracks from his critically-lauded debut album Common Sense, as well as special cover of Wild Thoughts by Rihanna and DJ Khaled (about 18 minutes in).

He also spoke about the "beautiful experience" of recording a music video in Ghana on his first trip to the West African nation.

It also turns out that this summer he fell asleep in a club in Ibiza (we've all done it).

Time for another moving tribute now from a musical superstar, this time courtesy of the high priestess of punk Patti Smith.

The 70-year-old rocker/poet shared a heartbreaking tribute to playwright, actor and friend Sam Shepard who died this week.

In a letter to The New Yorker, entitled My Buddy, Patti describes how the pair travelled and wrote together in spite of his illness.

She wrote: “Sam promised me that one day he’d show me the landscape of the Southwest, for though well-travelled, I’d not seen much of our own country.

She added: “Going over a passage describing the Western landscape, he suddenly looked up and said, “I’m sorry I can’t take you there.”

"I just smiled, for somehow he had already done just that. Without a word, eyes closed, we tramped through the American desert that rolled out a carpet of many colors - saffron dust, then russet, even the color of green glass, golden greens, and then, suddenly, an almost inhuman blue.

"Blue sand, I said, filled with wonder. Blue everything, he said, and the songs we sang had a color of their own.”

Anyone who saw his Viola Beach cover at Glastonbury last year, or his duet with the late George Michael at the Brits, or even his cover of Gene Wilder's Pure Imagination, will know that Chris Martin loves nothing more than a good musical tribute.

Now, the Coldplay singer has delivered a moving stripped-down piano rendition of Linkin Park's Crawling in honour of their late singer Chester Bennington, at a gig in New Jersey last night.

The Linkin Park singer was found dead in his home almost two weeks ago.

Like Adele's George Michael tribute at The Grammys, the Bard of Devon apologised and nervously re-started the song as he wanted to "get it right" as "this will probably appear on YouTube", during the opening show of their North American tour.

Chester's bandmate Mike Shinoda posted the below clip on Instagram alongside the caption: "Thank you Coldplay 🙏🏽 It sounded beautiful."

It seems to have brought some of you to tears...

Kanye West is suing Lloyd's of London insurers for $10m (£7.6m) over his cancelled 2016 US tour.

His company Very Good Touring claims Lloyd's has suggested it won't pay out because his "use of marijuana" led to a medical condition, which he denies.

Kanye - who axed the final 21 dates of his Saint Pablo Tour in November before being admitted to hospital - is also demanding interest payment for alleged breach of contract.

A spokeswoman for Lloyd's of London told the Press Association: "We're not able to comment on matters in litigation."
