Art Carnival
Art Carnival coming to Brentwood

Art Carnival

On Saturday, 2, June, Brentwood is hosting a eclectic mix of performance, sculpture and painting in its first art carnival.

Brentwood is holding a one-day art carnival with a number of young talented artists exhibiting their work. The event, the first of its kind in the town, will include a collection of performance, sculpture and painting.

Art Carnival is the creation of two artists living in Brentwood. As artists, they felt that the town is lacking in contemporary exhibition spaces and the large number of artists' submissions we received confirmed this.

The event will be hosted by Shamm and Mockery, two characters who convey the aims of Art Carnival.

Shamm represents the current 'art scene' in Brentwood. He is 8ft tall and looks down on everyone. He would love to see an exhibition full of landscapes or mass produced prints in gaudy frames. He will not approve of the performance art, sculpture and contemporary paintings featured in Art Carnival.

Mockery runs Art Carnival, she is younger and more open minded than Shamm. She has been known to refer to herself as 'The Dark Mayor' since she believes she can do much more than Brentwood Council has ever done for young artists.

Other artists include Micheal Bowdidge, Bret English, Lynne Gold, Natalie Kay, HE SAID Talent Agency, Danielle Stranger, Kev Toxic and Paul Vincett.

The Art Carnival takes place at Bishops Hall Community Centre, Brentwood. Get in touch with your inner artist by painting the giant canvas in the gardens. Be warned - you could get very messy.
