The biggest ball-balls in Essex

You may think you have problems taking down all your Christmas decorations but one Braintree based artist has a 15 foot problem that he just can't get rid of!

When Braintree based artist Michael Condron was commissioned to make a giant Christmas sculpture for Bracknell town centre, he didn't imagine the problems he would have when it came to packing up the festive decorations.

You see his work of art is 15 feet tall - a bit big to wrap in tissue and store up in his attic until next Christmas.

Michael isn't too keen on keeping it in his front garden either because on the hour, it lights up, spins, plays music, and blows out smoke and bubbles!

It also has 12 interactive windows displaying local children's artwork and a giant 'TV planet' illusion. Very nice to look at over the festive season but not all year round!

Michael started working on the project in August last year and finally finished it in November.

"It is the hardest thing I have ever worked on, in terms of all the moving parts and lights it contains" he says.

Fortunately he had a good friend with a large empty barn, and that is where he gradually assembled the huge sculpture.

Having worked with school children in Bracknell who designed the snow flakes and Christmas scenes inside the giant ball-ball it then went on display for 6 weeks in Bracknell town centre.

However come the 5th of January it is Michael's job to re-home his huge masterpiece.

What it really needs is a good home - somewhere it will be looked after and stored until next Christmas when more people can enjoy it.
