It may get some bad press but for those of us who live here, the county of Essex is a very special place. It is perhaps one of the most diverse counties in the country, taking in a long coastline, beautiful countryside and dramatic urbanisation. | | Laboratory at Marconi Communications in the 1970s |
All of this means that Essex can mean very different things to many people. To celebrate this fact, the Essex Records Office have put together a special exhibition at the Chelmsford Museum in Moulsham Street. Using the vast resources of the Essex Sound and Video Archive, 'Making Modern Essex 1945-2006' is an audio-visual exhibition telling the post-war history of the county, as seen through the camera lens and interviews with fifty of its residents. The exhibition has been made possible due to contributions by the Heritage Lottery Fund and the Friends of Historic Essex and Renaissance, and is on until Sunday 10th December. |
