350,000 youngsters in the UK have at least one parent with a serious drug problem. 20,000 children in Britain are living with a life threatening illness. 5,000 children are involved in prostitution in this country. One in five girls and one in ten boys in the UK are sexually abused by the age of 16 - most abusers are known to the child. It's estimated that 50,000 children under 15 years old are homeless in England each year. One third of children with disabilities in this country live in poverty. 215,000 11 to 15 year olds throughout the UK have harmed themselves. |
