Strictly Chums Dancing

Children in Need facts

350,000 youngsters in the UK have at least one parent with a serious drug problem.

20,000 children in Britain are living with a life threatening illness.

5,000 children are involved in prostitution in this country.

One in five girls and one in ten boys in the UK are sexually abused by the age of 16 - most abusers are known to the child.

It's estimated that 50,000 children under 15 years old are homeless in England each year.

One third of children with disabilities in this country live in poverty.

215,000 11 to 15 year olds throughout the UK have harmed themselves.

The Radio Nottingham presenters raised more than £1,600 for Pudsey's Children in Need fund - pledged by listeners to BBC Radio Nottingham.

The bookie's favourite was the Tony and Julie Wadsworth team from Leicester - as Julie is classically trained in tap and ballet. But it wasn't a sure thing.

They danced the Paso Doble - a dramatic performance where the man usually plays the role of the matador and the woman takes on the role of the cape - and scored straight 9s. And they raised a grand total of £3,400 for Children in Need.

Andy Whittaker and Aleena Naylor from Radio Derby joined the Radio Leicester and Radio Nottingham couples to learn a dance and perform it at the airport.

Their goal was to raise £500 for Children In Need by the night of the dance-off - which they did easily! In fact, Andy and Aleena raised more than £4,000!

John and Fran took the crown dancing a beautiful quick step.
