 | | Andy and Aleena |
So the gauntlet has been laid down... During Monday morning's breakfast show, East Midlands Today presenter Anne Davies invaded the airwaves to challenge Andy Whittaker to learn a ballroom dance in just five days. As if that's not pressure enough, Andy and his 'lucky' partner will be showing off their newly-honed skills in a dance contest at East Midlands Airport on Friday. Having accepted the challenge, our erstwhile presenter's first task was to recruit a partner for the dance. But our Andy's a popular fella and within the hour, fellow presenter Aleena Naylor had appeared live on his programme to offer up her services for the challenge. Like Andy, Aleena's only dancing credentials are boogieing to S Club 7 at wedding receptions and being forced to do country dancing at school. Now the pair have to pick a dance, select a song and find someone to teach them ahead of their big performance on Friday evening. Andy and Aleena will be up against presenters from BBC Radio Nottingham and BBC Radio Leicester at the big event. They are also hoping that BBC Radio Derby listeners can raise more money for Children in Need than anyone else in the East Midlands. Their target has already passed £800 - so call BBC Radio Derby on 01332 616161 to donate. Alternatively you can pledge cash through the Children in Need website. And keep listening throughout the week as Andy and Aleena get to grips with their challenge and look to become the East Midlands dancing champions! |
