Exclusive interviews with the Casualty cast

Role: Senior House Officer | |
Q. What were you doing when you got the call that you'd got the part?
A. I was doing a play at a theatre in North London which was a very dark, Fringe-type play about an asylum seeker. My performance wasn't very good that night.
Q. Are you prepared to step into Chris' heartthrob shoes?
A. I haven't given it one second of thought because my character is such a paradox from what I've heard about this heartbreaker bad boy, Simon. It's very much to do with the way Guppy's been brought up and what's he's been exposed to so they're complete paradoxes.
Q. What happens in your first case which makes the nurses laugh at you?
A. I'm outside the hospital and I'm looking a bit edgy, wearing a white coat. I'm the only character that's actually brought in a white coat. Abs goes 'We don't actually do the white coat thing.' So he takes me in and he feeds me a lot of lines and embellishes things. He makes me think one of the nurses is a man-eater, one of them's an alcoholic, that Harry's half death - so I'm always shouting at him in some scenes. So that's where the real tomfoolery becomes apparent. Then they start messing around with me because I'm incompetent - Guppy can't do a lot of stuff and it harps back to stuff in his personal life.
