David Beckham

Are we fostering the next David Beckham?

The BBC are working with Wisbech Town FC to help the children who live in Wisbech North ask for a better place to play football.

Is the next David Beckham living in Wisbech somewhere?

Do your kids dream of being the next Beckham? The children in Wisbech North certainly do. At the moment jumpers for goal posts is the familiar sight as they try to become the next England captain. We want to help the children of Wisbech North bring that dream a little closer with a football pitch they can be proud of.

We spoke to a group of children from Gordon Fendick's Junior school and asked them about where they currently play football, what it is like and where they think would be a a good place to get a pitch:

We want to cultivate the future of Fen football talent. The BBC and Wisbech Town FC have joined forces to try and make this dream a reality. Dick Crampton from the club will be helping us to achieve our vision.

The movers and shakers of the football world in Cambridgeshire have been invited to attend a meeting at the Oasis centre in Wisbech on April 1st 2003 at 7pm to discuss this matter.

Parents of the children at St Augustine's Infant school and Gordon Fendick's Junior school have also been invited to come along and get involved.
