'Free to Speak' programmes

'Free to Speak' is a season of programmes brought together to celebrate 75 years of BBC World Service.

All aspects of freedom of speech are explored.

Why is press freedom so important to the development of democracy?

In the documentary series 'Making News' and 'Press for Freedom', we take an in-depth look at the issues surrounding the freedom of press.

The BBC itself is the subject of the documentary 'How free the BBC?' - a programme that looks at the organisation's independence and relationship with the government.

There are interviews with notable journalists Bob Woodward and Alan Johnston.

The issues of freedom and religion also covered in an age where technology can quickly put small religious communities - and heretics and extremists - in touch with a wider audience.
