 Actors and actresses are the main focus at FESPACO 2003 Who's Who Many people involved in African film make their way to Ouagadougou for this bi-annual event. Actors and actresses come under the spotlight at this year’s FESPACO as the festival takes “the actor in the creation and promotion of African films” as its theme. The financing of African film and problems with its distribution, especially within Africa, has meant the continent doesn't have its own big stars as such. Blockbusters from Hollywood or Bollywood make up much of the staple diet for African cinema goers. Whilst the flourishing video film industry provides some exposure for the performers, few are recognisable stars out of Africa. Our special report profiles those both in front of the camera and behind and discovers how they came to work in the film business.
