The mysterious disappearance of a Russian-operated cargo ship off the coast of Britain in late July sparked furious speculation that has never been resolved.

Was it the first modern case of piracy in Europe as Russian officials would have us believe?

Was the ship at the centre of a smugging operation by the Russian mafia?

Or, most devastating of all, was the Russian government attempting to send a secret cargo - possibly anti-aircraft missiles - to Iran, as Israeli security sources now claim?

What exactly happened in the Arctic Sea?
