Bath Theatre Royal launch their 2006 panto

You shall go to the ball! Cinderella is coming to Theatre Royal Bath this Christmas and we were at the official press launch of the show recently to meet star Ruth Madoc.

Bath's Theatre Royal is once again pulling out all the stops to bring theatre-goers, young and old, the best seasonal pantomime the West has to offer. And recently they held a press gathering to launch this year's production - Cinderella.

Cinderella is the best-loved pantomime of them all and this truly traditional production will ensure that every member of the family has a ball.

Playing the Fairy Godmother will be Ruth Madoc. Ruth, most famous for her role as Gladys Pugh in BBC TV's much-loved sitcom Hi-De-Hi!, has recently appeared as Daffyd Thomas's mother in Little Britain.

An experienced stage performer, her numerous appearances have included Annie, 42nd Street, Under Milk Wood and many pantomimes.

Chris Harris has starred as Dame in Bath for the past five consecutive years and in previous Bath pantomimes has played hilarious characters in Dick Whittington with Eric Sykes and in Robinson Crusoe with Leslie Crowther.

He now turns his considerable comic talents to the role of Cinderella's best friend, Buttons and will once again be directing.

The cast is rounded out by actors Jon Monie and Mark Buffery who play the evil Ugly Sisters Dilly and Dolly and Gillian Budd who takes on the role of Cinderella.
