Jonathan - looking challenged

Carol's Challenge

BBC Look North presenter Carol Malia is setting BBC Radio Newcastle mid-morning presenter Jonathan Miles a series of challenges. Find out how he gets on.

Forget Challenge Anneka. Think Challenge Jonathan instead.

BBC Look North presenter Carol Malia is devising a series of tasks to put the BBC Radio Newcastle presenter to the test.

Carol Malia and Jonathan Miles play squash

Carol and Jonathan square up

The challenges will take him out and about around the north-east of England.

For the first one in August 2008 Carol took Jonathan to The Northumberland Club, in Jesmond, Newcastle, and challenged him to a game of squash.

Click on the links below to hear what happened when Jonathan put on his tracky bottoms and came face to face with Carol Malia on the court.

Jonathan milks a cow

Jonathan gets to grips with an udder

Jonathan's second challenge was milking a cow. Or perhaps it was the cow's challenge, although they looked interested and not entirely displeased with the proceedings.

It should be pointed out that Mother Earth left on her little blue pumps.

Jonathan Miles on a boat

Hello sailor! Jonathan's third challenge took him to Sunderland's Marine Centre and he had to do something on water.

So he put his life jacket on and set sail...

Jonathan Miles bingo calling

Jonathan has a go at bingo calling

Eyes down! Jonathan's fourth challenge took him to Heaton Bingo and Social Club to have a go at calling the numbers.

Jonathan took to the stage and got the balls rolling.

Just don't say legs eleven...

Blue and white lobster

There's something fishy going on this week. Jonathan had to venture to a fish quay and was taught how to pack live fish and lobsters.

And finally...

In three... two... one... The final challenge from Carol Malia was to sit in Carol's hot seat and present a Look North bulletin in the studio!

So the auto-cue is rolling and the red light is on...

Listen to Jonathan Miles on BBC Radio Newcastle every weekday from 10am - 1pm.
