Another season is coming to an end and another dramatic conclusion awaits for Wrexham and their Hollywood owners.

Phil Parkinson's side are sixth in table as they prepare to host fourth-placed Middlesbrough on Saturday, but there is work to do if they are to secure a play-off spot and the chance to claim a fourth successive promotion.

Hull City an Derby County are also part of the scrap for sixth, with a nervy climax to the Championship play-off race on the cards for all three clubs.

Former Wales midfielder Owain Tudur Jones says the "dream remains alive" for Wrexham who go into the final day of the Championship regular season firmly in the mix for a top six spot.

The Red Dragons, Hull City and Derby County head into Saturday's crucial round of fixtures in contention to secure the fourth and final play-off place in the second tier.

Phil Parkinson's side hold the slenderest of advantages ahead of the weekend as they sit above Hull on goal difference and are a point better off than Derby.

But Jones believes the fact Wrexham, on the back of three successive promotions, are even in contention to extend their campaign shows how well they have performed this term.

"It's not quite as simple as saying it's in Wrexham's hands," former Wales international Jones told BBC Radio Cymru's Dros Frecwast.

"They're on the same number of points (as Hull) and their goal difference is one better, so it's in their hands if they score more than Hull, but for Hull, it's exactly the same story.

"I feel that Hull have a slightly easier game against Norwich who have nothing to play for.

"Derby County, I feel, will win against Sheffield United at home, and that means Wrexham have to win.

"You have to try not to look at what happens elsewhere, hope that Middlesbrough still have a chance of finishing in second place.

"There's a lot going on, and I'm confusing myself looking at it. It promises to be an incredible weekend.

"But for Wrexham, not many people thought they would be in this situation, and the dream remains alive."

Wrexham's contest with Middlesbrough at Stok Cae Ras on Saturday gets under way at 12:30 BST.

Wrexham will aim to retain their place in the play-offs as they make the trip to title winners Coventry City on Sunday (12:00 BST).

The Sky Blues, who won the Championship title on Tuesday, have nothing else to play for except a winning end to their season before they head to the Premier League.

But the Red Dragons are still chasing a place in the top flight and depending how things go for Hull City on Saturday, could be in a need of a win to give them the advantage on the final day.

• Coventry City have won all four of their previous home league games against Wrexham by an aggregate score of 13-3; this is their first, though, since a 3-0 win in October 1963.

• Wrexham are looking to complete their first ever league double over Coventry after their 3-2 win in October. Only Ipswich have beaten the Sky Blues home and away in the Championship this season.

• Coventry have only lost their final home league game in two of the past 10 seasons (W6 D2 – including curtailed 2019-20 season), although those defeats have come in their past four campaigns – 1-2 v Huddersfield in 2021-22 and 1-2 v QPR in 2023-24.

• Wrexham have won their final away league game in each of their past three Football League seasons, never before doing so four times in a row in the Football League.

• Coventry have 52 points at home in the Championship this season; assuming three points/win all-time, only in 1931-32 (53), 1935-36 (58), 1958-59 (58), and 1966-67 (64) have they had more at home in a league season.

Former Wales striker Iwan Roberts believes Josh Windass should have been included in the Championship's team of the season.

Windass has scored 16 goals in 44 appearances – only 27 of which have been starts - in all competitions in his first season at Wrexham.

That tally had stood at 15, but Windass has belatedly been credited with the Red Dragons' first goal - as well as the second - in their win over Stoke last weekend.

And Roberts believes the former Sheffield Wednesday player deserves more recognition for his contribution this season.

"How he didn't get into the Championship team of the year, goodness only knows," he told this week's Feast of Football podcast.

"Had he started more games he probably would have. He has been unbelievable."

Windass will aim to continue his fine form when Wrexham bid to maintain their play-off push at Coventry City on Sunday (12:00 BST).

Frank Lampard has insisted his title-winning Coventry City side still have work to do this season as they prepare to face Wrexham on Sunday.

Having secured promotion to the Premier League at Blackburn Rovers last weekend, the Sky Blues sealed top spot in the Championship in some style as they thumped Portsmouth on Tuesday.

Play-off hopefuls Wrexham will hope Coventry's midweek success – and a week of celebrations – could take a toll on Lampard's players this weekend.

Former England midfielder Lampard described the Portsmouth triumph as "the perfect evening" for his team – but has stressed that their season is not over yet.

"We have got two more [games]," Lampard said.

"We want to finish it well for ourselves, for the respect of the fans who are going to turn up on Sunday and go to Watford [on the final day] and we want to get some more points, so it continues until the end."

Wrexham will aim to become only the second team after Ipswich Town to complete a league double against Coventry this season.

Wrexham's 3-2 home success in October was one of just seven league losses Lampard's men have suffered in 2025-26.

Wrexham manager Phil Parkinson says his team have "three cup finals" ahead of them as they look to secure a Championship play-off position.

Wrexham are seventh in the table and travel to face Oxford United at the Kassam Stadium on Tuesday night (19:45 BST) having cut the gap on sixth-placed Hull to two points after Saturday's 2-0 win over Stoke City, while Hull were held to 1-1 draw at home against Birmingham City.

"I think it's great to be involved at this end of the table," said Parkinson.

"You look at some of the games over the weekend, the pressure of the games down the bottom and how tough those matches are and it's great not be in that situation and where we are.

"We've got to enjoy this and continue from the weekend."

Oxford are 22nd and five points from safety with three games to go - and could be relegated to League One as soon as Wednesday night.

Matt Bloomfield's side would be down if they lose to Wrexham while Blackburn Rovers and West Bromwich Albion pick up wins and Charlton Athletic avoid defeat.

However, Parkinson said he is taking nothing for granted: "I think their recent record is decent in terms of they've had some good home wins and as we've said many times the difference in standard between the top and the bottom is very tight so you certainly can't underestimate any team."

Wrexham defender Callum Doyle says he is "honoured" to have been included in the Championship Team of the Season.

Doyle, 22, was the only Wrexham player to feature in the team that was announced at the EFL awards.

"It's a massive honour," said Doyle, who joined Wrexham for the current season from Manchester City.

"There's a lot of talent in this league, but I feel really honoured to be named in the Team of the Season.

"So, I'm very grateful."

Doyle has made 36 appearances in all competitions this season, scoring three goals, which included one against Chelsea in the FA Cup.
