An opening for discussion!

Chizzy Akodulo is one of the 2007 cast of the global phenomenon The Vagina Monologues. She told us why you should see it as it hits Beds, Herts and Bucks this Autumn!

The Vagina Monologues

Grove Theatre, Dunstable: 11 September

Swan Theatre, High Wycombe: 20 September

Alban Arena: 25 October

Aylesbury Civic: 26 October

Bedford Corn Exchange: 14 November

Radlett Centre: 16 November

Broxbourne Civic: 22 November

There have already been around 3,000 performances and 25,000 fake orgasms as The Vagina Monologues continues to wow audiences.

The show is a series of monologues based on interviews with over 200 women of all ages, ethnic backgrounds and walks of life who shared their most intimate secrets with the show's creator Eve Ensler, and discussed normally taboo topics as birth, sex, orgasms and relationships.

Now, the ultimate girl's night out has become a global phenomenon and proved compulsive viewing for men too.

Chizzy Akudolu is one of the 2007 cast and explained how she sees the show.

"I would describe it as comedy, with a bit of drama and a bit of cabaret, all surrounding the glory that is the vagina " she said!

"It's a real celebration. It's not all doom and gloom about the old vagina - you can laugh along too!

Celebration

"It's something that the women will sit there and go "aahhh, or laugh at and say 'yes that was me' and it might open some eyes for the men as well" she continued.

"Maybe they'll become more sensitive to us because we go through a lot because of that thing!"

She also said that she would encourage everyone to come along.

"If you've never seen it before, come and see it. And if you have seen it before come and see it again!" she said. "Because this is different people and different takes on the monologues.

"I think it's a show that everybody should see at least three times! It's just going to be a great night out really!

"I think it will definitely stay with you!"
