Watford's Waking the Dead

You'd be forgiven for thinking there was a touch of the Trevor Eve about Mick Flavin because he is Watford's answer to Peter Boyd, the character Trevor plays in the BBC's cold case drama Waking the Dead.

Mick will be speaking at the BBC Three Counties Radio RaW book club on Tuesday 11th September from 7pm, at Watford and District YMCA, Colne Room, Charter Place, Watford, WD17 2RT.

The manager of the Cold Case Review unit at Hertfordshire Police will be talking about his work, methods and successes and answering questions from the audience.

A former officer with the Hertfordshire force, Mick started the unit last year. One notable success was the conviction of 43-year-old Anthony Hart who is currently serving nine years for a rape committed in St Albans in 1996.

Hart, who had denied the offence, was caught after being arrested for a minor offence in Devon. His DNA was taken and, following an investigation by the Cold Case Unit in Hertfordshire, found to match that found at the rape scene.

This month the club has been reading The Corpse’s Tale by Katherine John, a story about a Cold Case murder investigated ten years later.

If you would like to join us to hear this fascinating talk please call Three Counties Action on 01582 44 11 11. You don’t have to be a member of the book club to come along. Places are free but limited to so call early and reserve your place.

For more information about this event please contact Toby Friedner at BBC Three Counties Radio on 01582 637 444.
