BBC Three Counties Radio presenter Jane Killick gets into the carnival mood!

After years of neck ache and general inferiority, BBC Three Counties Radio afternoon presenter Jane Killick finally received her wish to be as tall as the rest of society! Being only 5' tall, Jane has always looked up to her peers; but no more, because Jane has discovered stilts!

So fed up was she with being tiny that she wanted to find a permanent solution to her diminutive stature. So on a wet May afternoon Martina, John and Heather Waters from the Luton based Mad Hatters Circus Skills Club came to the garage of Three Counties Radio to show Jane how to stilt walk.

Mad Hatters provide trained stilt walkers and jugglers for the Luton International Carnival and this year fourteen of them will be parading through the town as part what will be a spectacular procession.

Jane's first steps were a little wobbly and she had to be supported by John and Martina on each side. But so determined was she to overcome her height deficiency that she would stop at nothing to learn how to do it.

After a few minutes she was practically running up and down the car park leaping with joy at her new found height and now she doesn't go anywhere without her stilts. I've even heard she sleeps with them on!

Luton International Carnival is the biggest one day carnival in Europe and takes place on Monday 28th May 2007.
